Tamang Heritage Trek

Only Seven hours from Kathmandu, this trek encompasses people, culture, forests and mountains - yes, a total view of Nepal. Ideal for family groups, or those wishing to wander gently along the trails, and see and feel the country. Accommodation is in the main spartan, but the hospitality of the people is warm and welcoming.

Day 01: Airport transfer to hotel. Pre-trek meeting.

Day 02: Half-day sightseeing. Issue of TIM’s and National Park Entry permits. Rest of day free to shop and explore.

Day 03: (1). Today the adventure starts early, as we drive outside the Kathmandu Valley along a switchback road to reach Syabru Besi (1500m), in seven hours.

Day 04: (2). Today we trek up the steep switchback road for 6 hours to the village of Gatlang (2238m). Alternatively, we can try to hire a local jeep, allowing for more time to explore this interesting village.

Day 05: (3). Our aim is to reach Tatopani (2607m), along a gently winding path. The village inhabitants are of the Tamang cast, of Tibetan descent.

Day 06: (4). The trail now leads us to the village of Nagthali (3165m).

Day 07: (5). Today we descend down to Syabru Besi.

Day 08: (6). Bus back to Kathmandu. Rest overnight.

Day 10: Free day in Kathmandu, or flight home.

Snow Dragon extra eggs: The Tamang Heritage Trail is not ‘fixed’; it is an area, as the name ‘Tamang Heritage’. We are able to create a trek to suite you and your party. For example, a side trekk to Briddhim (2229m), a special Sherpa community.)

• Nepali entry visa, personal travel insurance, to include trekking and helicopter evacuation.

• Tips to hotel staff, tourist guide, trek guide/staff.

Equipment: Standard trekking equipment. A personal equipment list will be sent, with confirmation of booking.

Cost: By request, dependent on number in party, choice of transport (Jeep/bus) to/from, and total number of days.

Deposit: Confirmation of trek will be sent on receipt of 30% deposit.

Note: You may just book the trek and arrange your own accommodation before and after the trek, however, the pre-trek meeting is mandatory.
