Khopra Trek

Khopra Trek – A great alternative to crowded Annapurna Base Camp Trek!

While Annapurna Base Camp is already a popular choice, Khopra Trek is still a less-trodden trail with more exciting challenges and undulating beauty.

If you are seeking for an adventurous week-long trek and less-beaten path with great views, this trek is a perfect options. It features the best what Nepal has to offer: magnificent Himalayan views, cultural villages, high valleys, terraced farmlands and tranquil forest.

Khopra Trek route goes through the local trail that takes you down into the valley north of Ghorepani and makes a climb to another ridge – Khopra Ridge. The trial is not easy: steep ups and downs are common and teahouses on the way are scant. But in return, you will explore rural communities deprived of facilities and warm local hospitality and a real wilderness experience, hard to find elsewhere in Nepal.

Starting from comfortable altitude, Nayapul, the first night is spent at Urerry. The next day, you will rise to Ghorepani, a village majestically located at 1,400m and climb to famous viewpoint Poon Hill to enjoy mesmerizing sunrise view.  You will leave the crowds behinds and trek through authentic village and jungle trial to the village of Someta.

A climb to Khopra Danda (3,450m) offers a great mountain climbing experience as you have to negotiate narrow steep mountain path with excellent views of Himalayans. The next morning welcomes you with a golden sunrise over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. We stay at local community lodge at Khopra Danda and the views are great at sunset too. From the summit, you can witness 25 mountains – Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, Nilgiri and Lamjung Himal range etc. Also look out for view of rare wild life – dear, monkey, yak, blue sheep and monal.
