The southern flanks of Peak XV, now called Mt. Everest, lie in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The name, Everest, is a western imperialistic title, named after the Surveyor General of India, George Everest. In Nepal, she is called Sagarmatha, The Head of the Earth Touching Heaven. In Tibet she is known as Chomolungma, The Mother Goddess of the Snows.
This trek takes you to the very fringe of the Goddess herself. It should not be underestimated; you go high, you cross rough terrain, with some scrambling, and it is physically demanding. Yet, the rewards justify the effort.
‘Wow - an amazing mountain odyssey – a classic for the discerning mountain enthusiast.’
- Dr. Tor Magne Lund.
