Annapurna Circuit Trek

Annapurna (8091m) is the 10th highest peak in the world, and the first 8000m peak to have been climbed. She crowns a range consisting of 13 peaks over 7000m and 16 over 6000m. Add to this numerous vast glaciers and rigged ridge systems, deep valleys and raging rivers.

This trek leads you around this mountain wonderland, from tropical to alpine, and provides a rich cultural experience.

‘Only complaint, it was over too quickly.’ - Doctor Tor Magne Lund.

Day 01: Airport to hotel transfer, trek planning (permits, equipment check etc).

Day 02: Early morning breakfast, followed by half day sightseeing. Issue of TIM’s and National Park entry visas. Final trek details. Bed!

Day 03: (1). Very early morning departure, by bus/jeep, 12 hours journey to Ngadi (930m)

Day 04: (2). Trek to Tal (1700m), the amazing waterfall valley.

Day 05: (3). Trek to Bagarchhap (2160m).

Day 05: (4). A steep ascent to Timang (2750m), with sneak views of Manaslu, to descend to Koto (2600m).

Day 06: (5). Short trek to trek to Chame, cross the river and continue to Lower Pisang (3200m).

Day 07: (6). We continue to Manang (3570m), the districts capital. Attend the altitude lecture and test the oxygen level in your blood at the hospital.

Day 10: (7). Acclimatizing day in Manang. A town of contrasts, from pool tables and cyber cafes to medieval streets, where you are likely to meet a yak at any corner. You have been warned.

Day 11: (8). We slow our pace, in consideration to the rarefied air, and wander gently upwards to reach Ledar (4250m).

Day 12: (9). Trek to Thorang Phedi (4450m), entering a lunar like landscape.

Day 13: (10). Start early, by the light of our head torches, slowly gaining height as the sun rises and warms us. Eventually we reach Thorang La Pass (5416m). Here we are greeted by snow-covered peaks set against blue skies. A steep descent to Muktinath (3800m) (ski poles recommended).

Day 14: (11). We start early in the morning, to avoid the afternoon sand storm, to reach Jomson (2700m).

Day 15: (12) Two alternatives: 1. A long rough drive to Tatopani, down the world’s deepest valley, to relax in the famous hot water springs. 2. Save a day. A 20-minute flight Jomson to Pokhara, stay there or connect to Kathmandu. Flights can be erratic, because of weather conditions, so we should allow time for the jeep/bus exit.

Day 16: (13). If you choose alternative 1. Local bus/jeep to Beni, then taxi or bus to Pokhara. Here you are free to explore the Lake Side restaurants, bistros and bars.

Day 17: (14). Early morning scenic flight to Kathmandu.

Day 19: Free day in Kathmandu (Or depart, advice when booking)

Day 20: Depart.
